Composition is my first consideration. This involves design, structure, space, and the part light plays in the composition. Painting is an illusion and the pleasure that the artist gets in depicting the subject in a personal way is part of the magic. I like to paint canvases that are always presenting a slightly different, slightly new point of view to the viewer … the slow reveal over time.
